Prof Abdullah Tahish: New Rector

 Dr Ahmed Saif Muharram, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, has passed a decision (Ref. 1/2015) to appoint Prof Abdullah Hussein Tahish in the position of Rector of Al-Nasser University in place of the ex-rector, Prof Saeed El-Ghalibi.

Prof Tahish was born in 1972, Kutaf- Sa’da. He got his Bachelor Degree in 1997 from University of Tashreen, Damascus in Agricultural Engineering. Master Degree was awarded to him in the same Major by Baghdad University in 2004. He was awarded PhD in Environmental Pollution from Cairo University in 2008.

Academically, Prof Tahish was appointed as a demonstrator in 1998 at Sana’a University where he was promoted to an assistant professor after the award of PhD in 2008 and then an associate professor in 2014. He has published six papers in international journals in addition to supervising a number of master theses.

He participated in many national and international training courses.  In 2012, he attended a course at American University—Cairo as a small and medium enterprise consultant and TOT. He has worked as a small and medium enterprise consultant between 2012 and 2014.

Prof Tahish participated in more than 12 international conferences. He represented Yemen at the meetings of Biotechnology Association affiliated to Federation of Arab Scientific Research Councils held in Tunisia, Sudan and Algeria. He also represented Yemen at the meetings of Arab Environmental Science Association in Doha and at the meetings of Federation of Arab Scientific Research Councils in Rabat—December 2014.

He was appointed as the Secretary-General of Arab Environmental Science Association by Federation of Arab Scientific Research Councils in 2014. He had a number of public activities and was elected in 2010 as a representative of the Assistant Faculty at Faculty of Agriculture and thereafter Chairman of Faculty Association at the same college in 2012.

He was elected as a member of the Executive Board of Sana’a University Faculty Association in 2014.
