Ministers of Higher Education and Legal Affairs Inaugurate 2nd Pharmaceutical Production Exhibit at Al-Nasser University

Under the auspices of Prof Abdulaziz Ben Habtour, Prime Minister, the ‘2nd Pharmaceutical Production Exhibition’ was officially inaugurated on Sun, 2 Oct 2022, by Mr. Hussein Hazeb, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Prof Ismael Elmuhaqeri, Minister of Legal Affairs. The event is organized by Pharmacy Department at Faculty of Medical Sciences, Al-Nasser University, in conjunction with World Pharmacists Day as well as the Prophet’s Birthday Commemoration. As a social initiative by Al-Nasser University, the proceeds of the exhibition go to providing first aid kits to the neighboring schools.

The exhibition’s inaugural ceremony was held in the presence of Prof Ali Sharaf-Addeen, Vice Minister of Higher Education, Prof Ghaleb Elqanes, MOHSR Deputy for Educational Institutions, Mr. Taha Essana’ani, Secretary of Prime Minister, and Mr. Mohammed Elwadei, Director of Education Institutions at Judicial Guard Office.

Upon arrival, the Ministers of Higher Education and Legal Affairs were received by Prof Abdullah Tahish, the Chancellor, Prof Mohammed Esharjabi, the Chancellor’s Counselor for Academic Accreditation and Computer Program Supervisor, Mr. Ali Ethayfani, Secretary General, Prof Omar Eshuja, Dean of Development and Quality Assurance Center, Prof Abdulkareem Ezzumor, FMS Dean, Dr. Mansour Ezzabadi, FECS Dean, Dr. Fahd Elkhayat, FAFS Dean, Dr. Mohammed Shawqi, FH Dean, and heads of Departments.

The guests toured the variable booths of the exhibition which had the slogan, “Pharmacist Imprint in Service of Community”. The exhibition contained many pharmaceutical, cosmetics, and hygiene products prepared by the Pharmacy’s 12th cohort ‘Pharmaceutical Production Pioneers” in accordance with scientific studies guided by the department’s faculty members. Prof Ezzumor, FMS Dean, Dr. Wafa Elmath-haji, Head of Pharmacy Department, and participant students gave explanations about the local organic and natural raw material used to manufacture the medicines and cosmetics as per international standards.

In his speech for the inaugural ceremony, Mr. Hazeb, Minister of Higher Education, presented his congratulations to the audience on the Prophet’s Birthday Commemoration. He also reviewed certain junctures of Prophet Mohammed’s (ppbuh) biograph and the close attachment of Yemenis to Him even before His birth.

Minister of Higher Education confirmed that the ‘Pharmaceutical Production Exhibition” is an eminent achievement by Al-Nasser University, its Chancellor, as well as faculty members who do their best to improve the learning process and take interest in the practical so as to ensure that graduating students are capable of pharmaceutical production. He noted that such research activities are part of the University’s main goals of learning, scientific research and community service. Moreover, he urged the students to keep up their creative pharmaceutical production to meet the market demand.

For his part, Prof Elmuhaqeri, Minister of Legal Affairs, pointed out that commemorating the Prophet’s birthday notes to the deep relationship with Him and his biography, manners, and principles. It is also an occasion for deriving lessons in every field and defying threats. According to him, commemorating the Prophet’s birthday embodies the Yemenis’ Islamic identity. He, moreover, praised the great success of Al-Nasser’s students in pharmaceuticals productions.

For his part. Prof Tahish, the Chancellor, noted that the exhibited products had been prepared in the FMS’ labs by the ‘Pharmaceutical Production Pioneers’ cohort under the supervision of faculty members who have a local and regional experience in pharmaceutical manufacture; namely, Prof Abdulkareem Ezzumor and Dr. Wafa Elmath-haji. The products were manufactured using organic and natural substances extracted from local raw materials after subjecting them to experimental examination. He accentuated that Al-Nasser University has aimed since its establishment to be a leading practical university. Today, he maintained, we harvest the fruits of the envisioned plans actualizing the slogan ‘Steady Steps towards Prominence’ with over 20 pharmaceutical products exhibited in conjunction with Global Pharmacists Day, Prophet’s Birthday Commemoration, and national days.

The Chancellor declared in his speech that Al-Nasser University had prepared over 25 kits including first aid medicines to be given to the neighboring schools as part of its commitment to and implementation of the third strategic goal of community service.

Held at the University’s headquarter, the event’s program included a reportage on the exhibition in addition to several artistic and expressive shows. It was concluded with presenting honoring plaques to Ministers of Higher Education and Legal Affairs as well as the exhibition’s coordinators and sponsors in appreciation of their efforts in making the ‘2nd Pharmaceutical Production Exhibition’ a success.
