Al-Nasser University Signs Technical & Advisory Support Agreement with CAQA

Under the auspices of Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Mr. Hussein Hazeb, an agreement was signed by Prof Abdullah Tahish, the Chancellor of Al-Nasser University, and Prof Ahmed Elhaboub, Head of Council for Accreditation and Quality Assurance on Monday, 27 Dec 2021. The agreement is intent to provide the technical and advisory support to the Pharmacy program at the University toward getting accreditation locally and then internationally.

The signing ceremony took place at the CAQA’s headquarter in the presence of Mr. Hazeb (Minister of Higher Education), Prof Ahmed Elhaboub (CAQA Head), Prof Mohammed Dhaif-Allah (CAQA Secretary General) in addition to a number of the CAQA board members. Al-Nasser University’s delegate comprised Prof Abdullah Tahish (the Chancellor), Prof Omar Eshuja (Dean of Development and Quality Assurance Center), Mr. Ali Ethayfani (Secretary General), Dr. Abdulkareem Ezzumor (FMS Dean), and Mr. Ahmed Mansour (Director of Technical Support Office).

The agreement includes the commencement of self-evaluation process in accordance to the program accreditation guide and relevant forms issued by the Council. The CAQA shall provide technical and advisory support regarding quality assurance so as to qualify the program for accreditation by pinpointing the program’s strengths and weaknesses and designing the upgrading plan to overcome hindrances.

Minister of Higher Education valued the CAQA’s procedures of having agreements with the national universities to first obtain the specific program accreditation and then apply for international accreditation. He noted to how the 2021 academic year was devoted to scientific research and witnessed a number of scientific conferences in state and private universities that covered the various medical, technical, agricultural, and humanitarian fields. He accentuated that 2022 must be a year for academic accreditation according to the international standards. He also praised Al-Nasser University and its role that excels other universities in offering quality education and compliance to CAQA’s standards.

For his part, Prof Tahish pointed out that Pharmacy program is one of the earliest and most excellent programs at Al-Nasser University with eleven cohorts of graduates. He confirmed that the University prepared a plan for obtaining the national and international accreditation for its programs.

Furthermore, the Chancellor stressed that such a step is motivated by the University’s keen faith in the importance of providing quality learning that comply with the national and international accreditation standards. It also comes within the pioneering position of Al-Nasser in graduating competent professionals and conducting the “Productive Pharmacist Exhibition” by faculty of Medical Sciences last September which included pharmaceuticals prepared by the students and was officially inaugurated by Prof Abdulaziz Ben Habtour, the Prime Minister.
