Chancellor Participates in 1st Agriculture Symposium at Sadah University

Prof Abdullah Tahish, the Chancellor, participated in the 1st Agriculture Symposium organized by Sadah University during 27-9 Nov 2021 under the slogan “Sustainable Agricultural Development: Reality and Future Prospects.”

The event is meant to develop the agricultural infrastructure of Sadah governorate. About 40 papers by research scholars coming from state and private universities were presented in the three-day conference in addition to the attendance of many research bodies. The presented papers tackled a number of themes including: flora and fauna production, agricultural economy and guidance, soil, water, and environment, and finally agricultural education.

The symposium’s sessions were held in the presence of the Mayor of Sadah, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Minister of Youth and Sports, chancellors of state and private universities, and interested research scholars. The program included inaugurating the symposium’s exhibition in which many eminent agricultural products of Sadah were displayed with the participation of several agricultural societies and Sadah Agricultural Directorate.

In its final statement, the conference came up with a number of recommendations including: inviting the decision-makers and governmental bodies of concern to adopt a total national strategy for sustainable agricultural development and food safety; undertaking typical agricultural projects; activating the role of higher education institutions and universities in the sustainable agricultural development; building typical applicable farms and banks of flora and fauna genes affiliated to research centers; directing the variable studies and researches toward self-sufficiency programs; and agricultural manufacture. In addition, the conference suggested a preparation of agricultural glossary to be incorporated in the pre-university curriculum as well as a university requirement course about food and water safety in Republic of Yemen.
